According To The variety At the China box office over Oct. 24–26, “Row to Win” stayed in first place for a second straight weekend with RMB27.6 million ($3.9 million), according to consultancy Artisan Gateway.
The PMF Pictures release has now earned $51.4 million since its late-September release. The comedy-drama directed by Ma Lin and starring Huang Bo, Fan Chengcheng, Yin Tao and Li Jiaqi, follows a coastal-town family – led by a once-tough patriarch – who rally together in hard times and push for a comeback.
Japanese animated feature “Colorful Stage! The Movie,” released by Shochiku, debuted in second place with $2.8 million. Based on the rhythm-game franchise “Project Sekai,” the film follows a group of virtual singers and their human collaborators as they navigate creativity, friendship and performance anxiety across multiple digital worlds. In third, China Film Group’s “The Volunteers: Peace at Last” collected $2.3 million to bring its cumulative total to $84.6 million. The film, which commemorates the Chinese People’s Volunteer Army entering the Korean War, stars Wu Jing and Zhang Ziyi and marks the third chapter in Chen Kaige’s “The Volunteers” trilogy.
Warner Bros.’ “One Battle After Another” placed fourth with $1.6 million for a cume of $5.3 million.
Rounding out the top five, Huace Pictures’ “A Writer’s Odyssey 2” added $1.3 million, lifting its total to $52.4 million. The sequel to Lu Yang’s 2021 fantasy action hit continues the meta-narrative of intertwining fiction and reality, with Lei Jiayin reprising his role alongside Dong Zijian and Yang Mi.
Weekend box office totaled a sluggish $19.4 million, bringing China’s 2025 year-to-date gross to $6.262 billion, up 17.1% from the same period last year.
